Sharon Betts.

Community Engagement Officer:

After returning to Jersey in 2014, I became actively involved with Brighter Futures as an Ambassador, member of the Fundraising/Marketing Committee and latterly as a Community Engagement Officer

A well qualified and experienced lecturer in the Post 16 Sector with Community Education, Widening Participation and Inclusion the overall focus of my career to date.

Working with progression to a high level within the voluntary sector for The Prince’s Trust, as a Co-opted Vice Chair of Governors within a school in serious weakness and, as an Educator within a Residential Treatment Centre. I held these positions for a number of years and feel these were honourable posts.

Now, as Community Engagement Officer with a focus on Corporate Social Responsibility and Event Experiences, my drive is to work alongside community agencies, institutions and organisations to give them the opportunity to become active partners in addressing community concerns. To create shared experiences, with an alignment between the values of an organisation and those that our programmes support.

My work within Brighter Futures today brings together my academic background, determination and commitment to see a fairer society that supports families to create the brighter futures they want for themselves and their children.

For Jersey is a small Island, a community almost like a large family. We all want the best outcomes for our families, as do the clients that come to Brighter Futures.

By working in partnership, we can make a difference to many of the social problems that families face on a daily basis and therefore, it is Brighter Futures job to facilitate that ambition.
